The cream of the online fashion retail industry are dressing up in their finest tonight for the second annual Drapers Etail Awards, which is being held this evening in the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London and Designer Desirables is a “Finalist For The Best New Etailer Of The Year” so wish us luck.
The ceremony will recognise the movers and shakers of online fashion retail, and the guest list promises to be as glitzy as the gowns some of the nominees sell on their websites. Claudia Winkleman is hosting this year’s event, before the tables are pushed back to let the dancing begin.
Competition is fierce this year and in this hugely competitive market, the prestige of winning a Drapers award is sure to put the victors in a fantastic position to begin their 2010 trading.

On a considerably less rainy night in LA this weekend, the fashionistas of Hollywood were dressed to the nines as Saturday saw the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Red carpet fashion was on dazzling display from all the A-lister beauties and as you probably all know we are rather keen on a spot of glamour in the Designer Desirable offices. As it’s now officially awards season we get to swoon over all the uber luxurious designer dresses, jaw dropping jewels and sexy accessories (George Clooney). So now to our favourite looks of the night….

Christina Applegate looked ethereal and very old Hollywood in a flowing Roberto Cavalli ice blue gown and sparkling jewel encrusted clutch. The recent onslaught of award festivities has had celebrities switching their over sized handbags for sleek clutches. In black a beaded dress by L’Wren Scott, Penelope Cruz proved that black is anything but basic in this shimmering dress that fitted her womanly curves perfectly.

So, it’s not only blighty that has awful unpredictable weather, it RAINED at the Golden Globes in L.A last night and, shock horror – some A-Lister’s even held their own umbrellas. Now, as big as this news was – we were far more concerned with the award winners, and of course most importantly, the dresses. See below our pick of the best red carpet starlets….
Emily Blunt in Dolce & Gabbana
It was romance that ruled the night with Emily Blunt’s pale rose strapless Dolce & Gabbana number being my number one look. The actress channeled luxurious feminine glamour and was the epitome of red carpet elegance. Emily finished off this dreamy look with a pair of sparkling diamond cuffs and a Ferragamo silver clutch bag.
Anna Paquin in Stella McCartney
Although she lost out in all 3 categories Anna Paquin sparkled on the red carpet in a gold Stella McCartney gown with a plunging neckline. Anna also gets our award for best accessory, giving her glamorous dress an edge with an Alexander McQueen, skull clutch.
Penelope Cruz in Giorgio Armani Privé
There was of course a stylish array of classic black gowns on offer. Penelope Cruz (holding her own brolly) wore a lace dress by Giorgio Armani Prive that featured a dramatic beaded neckline, horizontal ribbon striping and fitted sleeves. A true Hollywood goddess Penelope accessorised with some 69 carats of Chopard diamonds… we can but dream!
Ginnifer Goodwin in Vionnet
This year’s ceremony also saw a trend for short dresses, I’m still not sure about for this style for major awards shows, but Big Love’s Ginnifer Goodwin looked uber chic in an electric blue draped Vionnet cocktail gown. Vibrant and youthful this is an age perfect outfit!
This years awards was easily the dressiest and soggiest I’ve seen in a long time…. I am now very excited for the Oscars!
