Dannii Minogue

What a weekend Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogues X Factor fashion face-off continued with an array of to die for dresses and then the a-mazing live performance by Lady Gaga… love it! Monday is obviously the day in the Designer Desirables offices that we discuss in length the latest outfits worn by Cheryl and Dannii our two favourite judges and ask – who gets your vote? Personally Saturday night was no biggie but they certainly made up for that on Sunday. Cheryl’s look came over all gothic in a black puff-shoulder mini dress from Stéphane Rolland, featuring a dramatic long train at the back. While this is far and away from Cheryl’s usual young and funky style, her minimal jewellery, sleek hair and smoky eye make-up ensure she pulled it off in style; her look completed with edgy chain detail platforms from Pierre Hardy. Obviously influenced by the appearance of Lady Gaga, Dannii chose an embellished silver mini dress from Aurelio Costarella featuring a keyhole cut-out detail on the front, with an edgy rolled quiff in her hair. We’re sure Lady G herself would have approved of this ontrend look! Caroline Size UK 12

Caroline is our model who is  UK 12 and is 5 foot 10 and she looks stunning in evening wear.

Caroline has a full time job in retail is getting married in May and making her own wedding dress!

Emma Size 10 Model

Emma is our UK 10 curvacious model and has just recently won Miss Galaxy Teen International in the USA.

Emma is a personal fitness instructor and loves chocolate!

Cassie Size UK 10

Cassie is a svelte UK 10 and has maintained her natural figure after her gorgeous boy Charlie who is 3 in March.

Cassie will be joining the Designer Desirables team soon, as our in-house model, buyer and editorial manager.

Erin Size UK 6-8

Erin is our UK 6-8 model and is naturally this size.  Erin is currently studying a masters in International Business and hates the maths part of her course.

One of our biggest discoveries from using real women in our clothes was finding that manufacturers are out of touch with sizing for real women today.  This is a concern as we all know what women and girls are like when it comes to label size, and often when we have to go up a size our confidence can be knocked.

At Designer Desirables we want women to feel confident and sexy in all of our garments and our sales team will be able to help you with real sizing in all our garments.  Many of our ball gowns have had to re-sized from size UK 14 and UK 16 down to a size UK 12, not only is this unhelpful for Designer Desirables and our valued customers, but women have a resistance to buy a size up simply because we want to be skinny like the models we see in the magazines and celebrities who are size zero.

HOWEVER!  After watching Gok Wan’s How to Look Good Naked we are in full support of his petition calling for a body confidence lesson to be included in all school curriculums. Please click the link provided and support this fabulous petition.  Currently it is the fourth most popular on the Number 10 website so everyone needs to try and get this petition to be number one in order to get noticed.

During the show a magazine commented that they find it difficult to use real women models because the manufacturers will only give them size UK 8 clothes for their photo shoots.  Conversely we believe that they have the power to ask for a bigger size or to use a different manufacturer for a shoot that will give magazines reasonable sized clothes for real women to wear.  There is always room to negotiate so why aren’t magazines trying their hardest to focus photo shoots at real women?  It’s real women who flick through their shiny pages every week?  They have the power to use real women models and get the right sizes for photo shoots.  We can do it as an e retailer so there is no excuse for the magazines!

Body confidence and using real women as models is something we feel very strongly about here at Designer Desirables therefore you have any comments please post them!  Lets not stop here in our fight to get real women in magazines and as models, we all need to do it together!

Designer Desirables model Emma McInnes who won Miss Teen Galaxy International this year attended the awards in a show stopping dress available at Designer Desirables the Adalie dress by Forever Unique that was admired by all.

Emma enjoyed a fabulous evening and attended the Tipsy Mobo after party where she was photographed with Tinchy Styder.

The Adalie dress is available in black and white but Emma choose the white as she is tanned and has luscious dark hair.   This dress has been styled on Cheryl Cole’s white flower dress that she wore at the Brit Awards earlier this year.
