Spring/Summer Trends: Sheer Fabrics & Embellishments

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

In spring and summer fashion tends to get a little more revealing; we will blame it on the heat. So in 2010 sheer pieces are a mixture of the soft and feminine and innerwear as outerwear with lingerie-inspired lacy dresses and see-through corsetry channels soft and feminine rather than sex kitten.  Run your eyes over the s/s runway collections and you’ll find sheer fabrics used in a multitude of ways: tight sheer pieces, layers, and the much sought after delicate, feminine draping.

I love Rare’s figure sculpting lace keyhole back satin mini dress and Lipsy’s demure yet directional Black Romance frilled mini dress with layers of net tulle both perfect examples of this trend.

While there was a touch of sparkle in the front row of every single show, it’s a trend that is built to last and whether you wear it on your tights, on lamé socks with high heels, woven into your chiffon evening gowns or tied to your handbag, a little bit of glitter always does a girl good.
